Well, foo. The co-worker who went to ALA was not able to snag me an ARC of Catching Fire. Apparently the Scholastic folks had to put a sign up to tell people they were out after less than two hours.

In slightly better ARC news, I did manage to snag a $1 ARC of Joe Schrieber's No Doors, No Windows at Readercon last weekend. Woohoo!

In TV news, Adam Reed -- of Sealab 2021 and Frisky Dingo fame -- has a new animated series. And Jessica Walters will be providing one of the voices!

In movies, JMS appears to be off the World War Z movie. Much as I've snarked at the quality of JMS's post B5 (Season 4) work, this actually seemed like a good fit for him.

In sports, I'm sadly not surprised at all that the second half of the season for the Mets is looking the same as the first half.

An in sports history, I've learned that former New York Knick and NBA Slam Dunk Champion Kenny "Sky" Walker once raced against and beat a horse.

Seven Richard Feynmen lectures! All with annotation, notes, and commentary!

Yes, it does require MS Silverlight (making it possibly the only thing left that does), but it's still nifty (and works fine on my Mac w/Firefox).

Replacing West, Dimaggio, LeMarche, MacNellie, and Sagal is akin to bringing out a new show. If I just wanted Futurama characters with scripts by Groening and co, I could always read the Bongo comics. I don't.

Walter Cronkite has died. There never was another like him, and there never will be.

And I swear Angel was there - And she looked good.
And she said
"Turn around, girlfriend -
And listen to that boy's song...."

"And help him write something better."

(Yes, still harping on how bad "Your Eyes" is; see this post for original context.)
