Based on threads over in [livejournal.com profile] tithenai and [livejournal.com profile] cucumberseed's LJs (from before the Second Great LJ Kablooey of '11), I started the Hundred Push-Ups program this week. I've finished the first week, and am enjoying it.

After finishing day one, I realized a major flaw with the program, and in fact the very idea of push-ups: they're not cat-proof.

See, the very first day I started the program, Max saw me lie down, and immediate assumed that my hands splayed out on the floor were an invitation to play. So he came over and licked a finger, then playfully nipped one. When I scooted away and pushed myself up, he naturally came over and nuzzled my face. Explaining to him (gently but firmly) that I was trying to do a set of exercises and playtime could happen later did nothing. Nor did flinging him onto the couch.

The next phase involved Max waiting until I'd pushed-up, and then walking under my chest and just standing there.

Sigh.

The solution, of course, was to take the cat into the kitchen and give him a bunch of treats.

And yes, I had a similar experience with Victoria today.

The lesson here, of course, is to make sure the cats are in another castle room before starting exercising.
