Assorted Friday thoughts
Apr. 20th, 2012 03:01 pm1. I'm off to Milwaukee this Sunday. Alas, unless I skip some of the late-Tuesday events (a distinct possibility), it looks like I won't have any free time to hit the Milwaukee Public Museum, which sucks. But I do hope to enjoy a meal or two no matter what (and some good beer, which I'm sure exists out there in spite of the national ones associated with the city). Alas, I'm flying Airtran (because Frontier canceled their route), which means I have no assigned seat, because Airtran, I kid you not, charges to reserve a seat. Any seat. They've actually gotten better at sucking since I last flew them. I hope every fucking Airtran exec is fired once the Southwest merger is complete.
2. As a result, I won't be doing the BARCC Walk for Change this Sunday. But the rest of Team Venture will be! Please support them if you can; the money goes to a great cause.
3. Had my work review today. Not inclined, as always, to talk about any details publicly, but suffice to say, I'm generally content at work in spite of being stretched thin; "busy" isn't always a bad thing, especially when you see good things being accomplished.
4. Speaking of work, if you want to see one of the three big projects that keeping me busy, it's here. Not so much the website (which took only a few minutes, especially since I'm stuck with the god-awful template our CMS uses), but the work and learning behind it. Basically, I've been living and breathing assistive/adaptive technology for the last few months (while still doing everything else that's on my plate).
5. Also speaking of work (specifically, the freelance kind), you can find my latest Q&A for Publishers Weekly, an interview with Barry Lyga about I Hunt Killers, up now.
