It's the day before the day before Black Friday. Also known as Wednesday, or the calm before the storm, sale-wise. Yesterday's post has a bunch more DVD/Blu-Ray deals (including Rio, Despicable Me, Transformers, Archer, the Ocean's Trilogy, MacGyver, and more) as well as $5 magazine subscriptions and the novel The Hunger Games for $2. Monday's post has even more DVD/Blu-Ray sales (Benjamin Button, The Mummy, Chuck, Titanic, Sucker Punch, Blazing Saddles for $3.99 on Blu-Ray, Sarah Connor Chronicles, etc), as well as some game downloads and more. Sunday's post has yet more DVD/Blu-Ray choices (Homeland, Planet of the Apes, Expendables 2, Twilight, Downton Abbey, From Dusk til Dawn, Caddyshack, Doctor Who, and more), plus game downloads, board games, and more.

As always, there are lots of Lightning Deals today, including Circulon cookware, toasters, laptops, a trumpet, The Prisoner, The IT Crowd, Play-Doh, LEGO, and a lot more. If you've got the patience for them, the lightning deals are worth it, but you have to be ready to pounce as soon as they go live in many cases (it's not one-click, so you can change your mind, but you've only got about ten minutes before it's pulled from your cart).

For variety, I'll start with kitchen and home stuff, and hit the media items further down.

The Deal of the Day is on the Panasonic ES-LT71-S Men's 3-Blade(Arc 3) Wet/Dry Nanotech Rechargeable Electric Shaver with Vortex Cleaning System for $74.99 (63% off, and about $40 below any other retailer). If I were a foil guy instead of a rotary guy, I'd be all over this.

There's a big 25% off and more sale on Cuisinart Coffee Makers. I've raved about Cuisinart's coffeemakers before; I love their quality and their customer service. I do suggest avoiding the grind and brew models (from any brand) simply because cleaning the grinding mechanism is a pain given how moist it gets. Stick to a separate grinder.

The Fred and Friends Mister Tea Infuser is $10 (33% off). It's also kind of creepy, personally.

There's a sale on -- I kid you not -- Blueberry Pop Tarts, with a twelve-pack of boxes going for only $14.53 (fifteen cents a Tart). That drops to $14.80 if you do Subscribe and Save. These are the unfrosted Tarts. Wild Grape Pop Tarts are also on sale at $.14 a Tart, while the Hot Fudge Sundae ones are going for $.15 a Tart after Subscribe and Save.

In board games, if you buy Quirkle (at $17.94/49% off), you can get 30% off a number of other Mindware games. A few of them (like Q-Bitz) are already decently discounted, but the 30% is nice on any of them.

There's a Megabloks sale, with up to 30% off HALO, WOW, Spidey, vehicles, and even the Smurf Advent Calendar.

And there's also a Yellow Friday sale, with discounts on a bunch of Spongebob Squarepants items, with any purchase also providing a download of a free episode of the show.

In Blu-Ray, the Bond 50 Collection (with 22 films through Quantum of Suck) is only $129.99 (57% off).

You can nab any of the first five seasons of 24 on DVD for $10 a pop (80% off).

Tron: Legacy joins the ever-growing list of 3D/Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital combo packs at 60% off ($19.99).

The Blu-Ray Die Hard Collection is $19.99 (71% off), or $5 a movie. I still haven't seen the fourth one, but for that price, it's hard to pass up.

The Kids In The Hall: Complete Series Megaset is $31.99 (68% off).

The two-disc Hunger Games on DVD joins its Blu-Ray cousin on sale, going for $9.99 (68% off).

The Fighter on Blu-Ray/DVD is $8.99 (61% off).

The pre-order of the Blu-Ray 2012 San Francisco Giants: The Official World Series Film is only $12.49 (60% off).

Into the Woods is $10.49 (58% off) on DVD. And the limited-edition The Sound of Music Blu-Ray/DVD set is $19.99 (78% off) (only $2 more than the non-limited edition set).

The huge DVD Spotlight sale includes over 5000 choices. Your best option here is to just use the categories on the left to narrow things down by category, but choices include some previously mentioned deals (The Lorax, Horton Hears a Who, White Collar, Despicable Me), as well as Snow White and the Huntsman, Brave, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Seven, The Expendables, Lie to Me, and lots of others.

The huge 75% off Blu-Ray sale includes over 2500 choices, including previously-mentioned items like Breaking Bad, Titanic, Walking Dead, In Time, and Blazing Saddles, as well as new items like Red Riding Hood (like Blazing Saddles, down to $3.99), Tintin, Gone With the Wind, Superman vs The Elite, Drive, Fight Club, 3:10 to Yuma, Inception, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Expendables, and hundreds more.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit for PS3 is $12 (40% off).

Grand Theft Auto IV & Episodes from Liberty City: The Complete Edition is $19.99 (33% off), for PS3. No idea why only PS3 titles are getting the discounts today instead of both PS3/Xbox.

That said, Kinectimals - Now with Bears for the Xbox/Kinect is $19.99 (60% off). It also has arguably the greatest name ever. I want to see this applies to other game franchises. Grand Theft Auto - Now With Bears would be awesome. As would Madden '13 - Now With Bears.

Speaking of long names involving animals, Nintendogs + Cats: Toy Poodle and New Friends for the 3DS is $14.33 (64% off).

Syndicate for PC is $7.51 (75% off), making it cheaper than the downloadable version (even if you don't have Prime and have to pay shipping).

Wii Play is $7.19 (86% off).

On MP3, Queen's Greatest Hits is $3.99. Does anyone not own this already?

The $.50 Sony MP3 Single Sale includes Of Monsters and Men's "Little Talks," Psy's "Gangnam Style," Carly Rae Jespen's "Call Me Maybe," Maroon 5's "One More Night," and eleven other songs. Jespen's album Kiss is also going for $3.99

In Kindle books, Dyan Cannon's Dear Cary: My Life with Cary Grant is $2.99 (82% off).

Cheap Kurt Vonnegut books on Kindle include Cat's Cradle ($3.99), Breakfast of Champions ($4.74), and Slaughterhouse-Five ($5.70).

Other good Kindle bargains include Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door ($4.99), Justin Cronin's The Passage ($7.99), Stephen Frey's Arctic Fire ($4.99), and Guy Fieri Food ($3.99) (not as good, alas, as that awesome New York Times restaurant review, or the SNL skit that followed it).

Finally, if you've ever wanted to set up your kitchen like a college dining hall, the Rosseto EZ-SERV100 2-1/5-Gallon Cereal-and-Snack Dispenser is on sale for $33.20 (45% off, about $15 below others after shipping).

But every headline I see talking about how the Empire Strikes Back screenwriter will write a new Star Wars movie makes me think of three words:

Zombie Leigh Brackett.

(And yes, I know they mean Kasdan, but since every headline insists on using that longer phrase, I consider my confusion understandable.)
