Two quick Criminal Minds bits

You know, if it weren't for the few lines of dialogue at the beginning that basically translate as, "you will like the spin-off, dammit," the latest episode was about as solid an episode as they've had all year. Mind you, it's impossible to throw everything that makes CM good into one ep (there was no chance for the victims to reclaim any power, for instance), but it was still a fine episode noticably marred by what appears to be a network mandate.
2. If CBS must do the spinoff (and the latest news is that they must, indeed), wouldn't it make more sense in terms of continuity and such to have Kevin Lynch as their tech guy?
