I think that Detroit 1-8-7 might be my favorite new show of the (admittedly-weak) season, by a long shot. It's a straight-up police procedural, but it's nicely crafted, with a variety of fun characters and good cases. Of course, I seem to be the only one watching it, based on its ratings, but if you were a fan of, say, Homicide, it's worth checking out (with the obvious warning that this is not a David Simon show).

Also, I'm not sure I've seen any veteran show rediscover its footing as well as CSI (original flavor) has over the last season and change. The first four episodes this year were about as tight as any the show has produced.

FWIW, I'm also watching Detroit 187. Having grown up about an hour west of where it's set, and given that they are filming on location, how could I not. It's been fun, but also heartbreaking watching the use of the city in the show. (Plus I really like Michael Imperioli. I was really disappointed that The Unusuals didn't last longer than the half season it had.)

Has CSI:Original really regained it's mojo? It slipped off my screen about halfway though last season.

While I haven't caught any of NBC's or cables offerings for this season, I'd go with Raising Hope as the best new show of the season. Has much of the New Scum magic of the early seasons of My Name is Earl by the same creative team...

Drama wise I've liked the new supers one when I catch it (its opposite Glee) and Detroit 1-8-7 looks good. But I never really get into police procedural's that much. Even when I think they're really good like say, NYPD Blue...

My wife likes it. I find the camera work so distracting, I can't watch the show.

It really has -- they've got sharp, witty writing, they've remembered to let Stokes grow as a character, they've given Catherine plotlines, etc. It's refreshing.

I guess my utter inability to get MNiE (watched three first-season eps, laughed about three times total) has kept Hope under the radar for me. I still have the pilot, but haven't gotten around to it.

I think the television equivalent of the Overton Window has gotten me used to camerawork like that; compared to the jerkiness on some shows, this seems like it's practically on a tripod.
