I just did seven ten-minute presentations in a row.

Gah. Mind you, it was fun telling the incoming grad students all about our LMS, and it was rewarding, but man, that's much. We're talking less than a minute between sessions, too.

And this afternoon, I'll be leading a discussion of Fun Home for incoming freshmen. And getting to meet the author. I do not promise that I'll be able to avoid fanboying.

Shorter version: Life's good, but hella busy at this time of the year.

Yeah, I'd have a hard time not fanboying too. Ask her how her home and town are doing after Irene came thru.

I mean, I think it's a great book. I did say that. But I thought you were just talking about a book, not meeting Alison Freakin' Bechdel.

She lives in Vermont. Vermont got drenched, and then some. She may literally not be able to get home until they fix a few roads (or she may be one of the lucky ones who are still connected).

My parents, for example, live up on a hill, so they're okay, but they'll be helping re-construct the plot where the local farmers' market is held. It was by a brook, and now it has major erosion ruts making it impassable.

Yeah, part of the book program involves bringing in the author (why I got to meet Junot Diaz two years back, too).

EVERYTHING SONG JUST SAID GOES FOR ME TOO. I mean, you *live* with her so it's a more egregious omission, but still! I put that book on the Senior reading list this year.

I'm going to have to join the OMG BECHDEL SQUEE PANTSWET train, really. Because that's wildly awesome and I just read Fun Home and then set about pestering J with it mercilessly.

I'd always loved Dykes, and I picked up Fun Home on a whim at a remainder bookstore. Dayum.
