Pop vs Soda

There's an entire website dedicated to tracking down the regional usages of "pop," "soda," and "coke" when as generic terms.

i haven't seen this, but let me guess: "coke" in the south, "soda" in the midwest, and "pop" in the northeast?

Missouri must be weird; everyone calls it soda here. Unless they're from the South.

And now that i bother to look at the map, it does seem that there's a "soda" bubble right over the state. Oddly fascinating. I can see why they devoted a website to it.

I'll usually ask for a soda, but if someone asks me FOR a coke my response is "What kind?"
