Weight update
Sep. 23rd, 2011 01:49 pmHad my two-month check-in with my doctor today. I won't have my various blood results until next week, but my weight's down to 179. That's 11 pounds since last time, and 39 since my April diabetes diagnosis. I haven't been this thin since eleventh grade (which is not to say I'm actually thin, but I'm safely out of obese territory now). I'm pretty pleased with that.
We're talking about possibly stopping the metformin* next week, depending on the state of my blood sugar. Obviously that would be for a trial period until my November check-in, but my doctor would love it if I could control this by diet alone (as would I). The statin and kidney drugs will probably stay, as they're preventative.
So yeah, pretty please with myself. Of course, we're looking at seven straight days of rain coming up, which directly impacts my ability to walk, which does NOT please me. I like losing weight, but getting in shape is what really pleases me (and what matters, health-wise).
On the clothing size front, I'm down to a size 34, although that comes with a nice big asterisk, since my size 34 shorts are too big on me (as in, they won't stay on), and my size 36 shorts fit just fine. Basically, the men's clothing game is as much of a racket as the women's clothing game is, even though the sizes are supposed to represent real-world measures. That said, most of the size 34 pants I've tried fit, so that's what I'm going with here.
*How has their not been a "Metformin?" "Of course I have. He works for me!" joke on House yet?
