As far as I can tell, he's the only one of the three MA folks who represent me in Congress who has come out against SOPA and PIPA (see his tweet here).

No word yet from John Kerry (who I suspect is fully in the pocket of the MPAA and their war on freedom), or Ed Markey (whom I've emailed, but not heard back from).

And no, it would be disingenuous of me to suggest that I'll go quiet today in protest, given how busy work is. That said, any and all social media posts will be about this topic.

Makes sense. Although stating that the MPAA is against freedom is a little like saying that the enemies of the U.S. "hate our freedom" since there is a definite financial incentive in place and a need to shut down the people who think that putting something online for free is within their rights. I love watching Dr Who and Sherlock on illegal sites but I can see why MPAA wants to shut down sites like Megavideo which are nothing more than places to post illegal and stolen content.

Well, my students today kvetched and moaned about how the US is trying to run the world... Unlike them, I get to vote in the US.

Colorado:
US Rep Jared Polis (D, Boulder) He's a Democrat from Boulder. Yes, of course, he's come out (well, yes, he is an out gay man also) as against SOPA and PIPA.

US Senator Mark Udall (D -- from Boulder). This is the man who still helps the women's health clinic where I used to moonlight fundraise; he's been doing that since he was a US Rep (Polis got his job after Udall went for the US Senate). (Abortions are performed there, btw.) Udall has announced his opposition publically.

US Senator Michael Bennet (D -- not from Boulder) is a PIPA co-sponsor, but lately he's been having second thoughts. I wrote to him today.

Both AZ Senators are listed as in support, which is just one more reason to be disgusted with Kyl and McCain. Four of our Representatives are listed as opposing though, surprisingly to me including the "resident" newcomer Quayle...
