Dear everyone who's been telling me to watch Farscape for years

Having just watched the pilot of Defiance, you've lost any chance of ever getting me to waste time on Rockne S. O'Bannon (no matter how cool his name is). Although in all honesty, Cult and the revived V had pretty much put the nail in that coffin.

SyFy would have done better greenlighting Megashark vs Crocosaurus: The Series than this crap.

(Okay, I did enjoy Alien Nation, but that's twenty-plus years ago.)

That's like saying because some of JMS's recent work is dreck, you should avoid B5 season 1-4. And even less fair, since B5 was really one man's vision, whereas Farscape was very clearly a group effort (per the various commentaries).

Defiance had the desire to be Firefly but the production values of an episode of Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. I only watched the last part of the first episode and I was picking and choosing the movies, TV shows and Video games they were snagging elements from. But who knows. Sometimes from a terrible start something fun can happen.

I didn't hate the Defiance pilot, so my taste might be suspect, but "Farscape" really does, in fact, not get its shit together until writer David Kemper takes a bigger role.
