Just how bad will Prometheus 2 be?

Let's think about this:

Aliens was about 10% worse then Alien*.

Alien 3 was about 20% worse than Aliens**.

Alien Resurrection was about 30% worse than Alien 3.

Aliens vs Predator was about 40% worse than Alien Resurrection.

Aliens vs Predator: Requiem was about 60% worse than Aliens vs Predator.

Prometheus was about 95% worse than Aliens vs Predator: Requiem.

At this rate, Prometheus 2 won't just be a terrible Alien film. It'll be significantly worse than Xtro 2 (or Xtro 3, but that's more a Predator rip-off than an Alien one). It'll basically be everything you hate about SyFy movies, but with a massive f/x budget.

*Which is not to take anything away from Aliens, which I still think is an amazing film.
**It's about 80% worse as a sequel to Aliens, but not actually a bad piece of filmmaking.

If your calculations are correct, the script will be as bad as the WB Tarzan Series.

I was going to link to my favorite Television Without Pity recap of Tarzan, but it seems the only thing left of the site is the front page.

I just checked, and it seems to be up, just moving incredibly slowly. CBS promised to keep the site archive up after shuttering it this year, but clearly isn't throwing resources at it.

Aliens wasnt WORSE than Alien at all. It was a different type of movie. And Alien 4 was pretty good.

They're definitely apples and oranges; I consider both to be great films, but Alien's just a touch better.

Alien 4 is a fun guilty pleasure (the last film in the series I consider passable), but it doesn't hold up well to repeat viewings.

.. AvP was worse than that!

I've said it before, but Prometheus was the Phantom Menance of the Alien films. And Attack of the Clones amazingly managed to be even worse than that.

But, as ever, it depends on the script. Without Lindelof chucking out logic, basic science, and common sense, Prometheus 2 might actually be an improvement. I'm not saying 'good', mind you, and there's no way I'm paying to see it before some sensible reviews.

I've got a soft spot for AvP, mainly because I like Paul (not Thomas) Anderson's ability to handle action sequences and his constant use of Colin Salmon. Also because AVP2 was such an incredible mess that I can't even think about it without cringing.

But yeah, Lindelof leaving the movie might mean addition by subtraction, but I'm not counting on it.
