Feb. 13th, 2002 12:06 amI can't deny it - my insomnia may come on its own at times, but it's also book-induced on occasion. Tonight, it's Neil Barrett, Jr.'s fault -- I had to stay up to read the last hundred or so pages of The Prophecy Machine. It's a thoroughly twisted book -- I honestly can't think of anything to compare it to, although there's certainly a touch of steampunk here. It's part satire, part adventure, and part David Lynch. It's the second Barrett book I've read, and the first of his fantasies (the other one was a detective story). He's now high on my list of authors I must find. Guess I'll go to be now and pick out my next book to read in the morning
