"Dear Adam Lipkin,

We all know that an MBA from a good school can give your career anjd earning potential a big boost."

The letter was in my mailbox at work. It was from Devry.

MBA from a good school. Sure.

Folks, in the current market, an MBA from a top-thirty school (like, say, Emory, which was #28 last year in the Businessweek rankings) is just about worthless.

Hell, an MBA from a top five, like Fuqua at Duke, might not be worth the time spent on earning it.

And yet Devry, which doesn't even crack the top 250, sends out a letter implying that they are a "good" B-school.

Just goes to show you -- junk snail mail can be as interesting as junk spam.

For system administrators, I saw salry surveys a while back that said the worst thing you could do for your salry was get edumacation. Salry peaked in the "some college" category. Went down for a BS, down more for a masters and came back up to above the "some collge" level, but not enough more to compensate for the years spent attaining that level of education.
