Six things people probably don't know about me:

1. I see through almost everything. Not that I can't occasionally be fooled in the short run, but eventually (and sooner than anyone expects), I figure things out. It's been a major asset at work. I'd probably have made a good shamus.

2. I am, however, very good at pulling the wool over my own eyes. Partially because of pure self defense -- there are things one simply doesn't want to know, and lying to yourself is a lot easier than people realize.

3. When I call myself an introvert, I don't mean that I'm shy. I mean I really, truly, psychologically, need time alone every once in a while. Shy people can be extroverts (i.e., they need others around). But not me.

4. I've tried marijuana exactly three times in my life. Aside from that, I've never touched illegal drugs (not counting alcohol consumed before I was 21).

5. I was a major shoplifter when I was a kid. To the tune of probably having literally thousands of dollars of computer games, GI Joes, tapes (this was pre-CD), and other stuff. My entire Atari ST game collection consisted of stuff I swiped from our local store, Leigh's Electronics.

6. I never seriously tried coffee until I was twenty. I've been making up for lost time ever since.

Five tHobbies:

1. Comics
2. Crossword puzzles
3. Gaming
4. Reading
5. Writing

Four Injuries I still remember:

1. Slicing a bagel, the knife slipped and cut deep into my finger, leading to one of three scars I still carry to this day.

2. When I was four, a see-saw at the playground came up and whacked me below the chin. Anyone who's ever seen me go unshaven for a few days has probably seen the small patch below my chin where no hair grows.

3. In middle school art class, we were cutting linoleum to do imprints, and the cutter slipped, slicing into my palm. To this day, my left hand sends palm-readers into a tizzy.

4. Running down the stairs of our house/dorm during my junior year in college, I didn't realize that a nail head was sticking up from the wooden banister, and I ran half my left arm down the banister over the nail. Fortunately, it wasn't deep, but it was nasty.

Three people you met online before meeting them in real life
(aside -- this is the problem with memes -- I mean, I could name upwards of twenty, easily)

1. [livejournal.com profile] shadesong. Met her on Tamson House, and we were best friends before actually meeting in person.

2. Jane Pritchett, who I knew through my horror list, was (I think) the first person I ever met in real life and formed a friendship with because of a listserv.

3. Melissa Parrino was the first person I ever went on a date with as a result of being online.

Two people you truly dislike. They must be people you know

1. [livejournal.com profile] shadesong's most recent ex-husband. I'm sure most people know the details.

2. Ms. Nesbitt, the Hebrew School teacher I had who all but destroyed my love of learning.

One thing you're truly proud of

Being a great father-figure for Elayna.
