Movie night 2 (Electric Boogaloo)
Jul. 21st, 2002 02:26 amSo, Movie Night 2 was tonight, and went great.
shadesong and I held our second movie night to honor the fact that
stronae was in town. Aside from the three of us,
dslartoo,
mousegrrl,
deza,
kellinator (making a brief appearance),
mfree, and
metaphorge all made it over.
After a trip to Brusters for ice cream (both 'song and I went for Peanut Butter Parfait, which is closing in as my new favorite flavor), we chatted for a bit, before Kellinator had to leave, and then movie night began in earnest.
We started with Rollerball, that '70s classic. It hasn't aged as well as could be, but it's still damned fun (although
shadesong despised it), and we had a blast making fun of the costumes and the vision of computers. Some of the violence in the movie is still pretty astounding.
We then followed it up with one of my favorite movies of last summer, Rat Race, which went over super well, as expected. For those who missed it, you really need to catch it. Even with the cop-out ending, it's damned funny. Painfully so, at times.
We finished the evening off with The Specials, which is like a lower budget Mystery Men with better writing. Damned fun movie ('song and I had seen it before) with a fun cast -- Paget Brewster, Jamie Kennedy, Kelly Coffield, Thomas Haden Church, Rob Lowe, etc. Very worth watching.
The evening was punctuated with lots and lots of good conversation, of course, and
mfree and
metaphorge were exactly as cool as we'd expected them to be. Lots of laughs, lots of fun. A damned fine evening.
And now, in spite of the fact that I thought I'd be up all night playing the newest version of X-Assault (thanks to much Diet Coke), I'm tired, so I'm off to bed.
