So, woke up hella early. Showered, made coffee, cleared dishwasher, and realized it was time to go. Elayna had woken up already, so I kissed her goodbye, and headed out the door. I decided to walk down Houston Mill. I figured it wouldn't be too bad, pre-dawn.

Um, right.

Was hella humid. And the final part of Houston, with the hill that goes up at something like a 60 degree angle, was a killer. Especially since I apparantly had another leg cramp last night, as my calf was sore. And although bringing the big Caribou travel mug of coffee with me was a great idea, from a caffeination point of view, it didn't do much to cool me down. :-)

Fortunately, I wasn't totally naive. I'd packed my deodorant, and I didn't wear the bright marigold shirt from hell on my walk, so I could change in the office.

Having changed, I went to the big breakfast, and pigged out (have I mentioned that the concept of restraint doesn't apply to me with food?). Had lots of eggs and grits and biscuits and bacon and orange juice. And more coffee. :-)

We then headed to the dorm to set up. Both of our students were still in training, so it was just our coordinator (Barb), and our techs (Mike, the ex-roommate, Adolf, and Bernard). Which is okay, except both Barb and Adolf are Talkers. The sort who never shut up. And Barb doesn't even breathe -- she doesn't interrupt, because that would imply there was a moment in which she was silent. SHe's a sweet, smart person, but someone I like in limited doses.

She also does things like unplug the hub without asking to switch outlets. Which is why she isn't a tech, at least. :-)

About twenty minutes later, we found out that the webmail server was down. So I can't check my @emory.edu mail (my @learnlink.emory.edu stuff is fine, if anyone needs me), which means I don't get alerts about lj comments, dammit!

And then the password reset pages all went down. Which means that one of my two jobs today (the other being LearnLink stuff) can't be done.

But I can't just slack alas, as there are seven other people around, and I only get to hog the network connection because I need this machine for work. But I'll try to sneak a few more posts later today, if/when we have any more lulls.
