The good:

We had the interview with the student worker, and it looks like she'll kick ass. And I've been re-reading Roger Zelazny's Jack of Shadows, and finding it even better now than the first three times I read it. I believe A Night in the Lonesome October will be next on my Zelazny re-read parade.

The bad:

At lunch, my throat started getting sore, and has remained so. Worse, at about 12:30, I was struck (as it, it felt like a bolt from the blue) with some sort of massive depression. It hasn't gone away either, although it's settled into a nice rut. And I've started to develop a dull pain in my lower back. I'm opting for the voodoo doll possibility.

The ugly: Um. Can't think of anything that's happened today that fits this bill. I suppose I could lift up my shirt and look at my gut, which ain't exactly pretty. Then again, I ate a healthy salad at lunch, so I'm not really down on my own appearance. Fuck it. No ugly today then. Clint Eastwood fans can file complaints at the appropriate office.

Lonesome October is a great little throw away book. I always wanted to run a night in lonesome october series of roleplaying games. It's got mcguffins to collect, rituals to perform, and silly manuvering for position, with a culminating grand finale, and then if it was fun we can do it again next year, with some people playing new participants, some playing the same.

It is a fun book. Actually, that's what I got Bret for our first anniversary (paper anniversary as he keeps reminding me). He's never read it, and I just think it's the perfect Zelazny book for him.

If you're rereading Zelazny, you mustn't forget The Lord of Light.

I wonder if I could do a play by e-mail or even play by livejournal thingy. Hmm. It bears some thought. Every time I read the book though, it screams "roleplay me" to me as loud as humanly possible for a paperback.

Ok, I'm taking suggestions in my LJ entry about it.

I think any list of re-reading Zelazny needs to include "A Game of Blood and Dust".
