So, two days in, I seem to be doing okay, diet-wise. I actually stayed below my Points quota yesterday (although above my minimum), mainly due to the fact that Amy's brand foods are damned low in points (the Veggie Loaf dinner I had weighed in at only five). And a big thanks to Melintur for pointing me towards Skinny Cow ; although the ice cream sandwiches I bought (the peanut butter cup ones) are three points instead of two, that's still damned good for a dessert, and they taste amazingly good.

My big weakness, alas, is coffee. Coffee iteself is free, the single-shot flavor creamers I use at home are a point apiece. And on the go, I dump about half a cup of skim milk and one packet of brown sugar in my coffee (along with some Equal). So my caffeine habit has a way of inching my point count up. Of course, there are obvious ways to balance it -- like eating a mostly point-free lunch at the salad bar (although chickpeas, my favorite salad ingredient, aren't free), etc. It's interesting how aware of everything I'm eating I've become, though (and it's not like I didn't obsess over food to begin with). The good news is, I haven't been excessively hungry, which means it's either a smart diet, or I'm cheating and don't realize it. :-)

Anyway, breakfast today was a 2-points bar (they sent two boxes with the at-home kit) and coffee with a creamer shot, so three points down, plenty to go.

I taught myself to like black coffee a few years ago because I couldn't rely on milk in the office to be good, and there's nothing more repulsive than tipping bad milk into your coffee at 09:30. Admittedly, the sugar I take in the coffee would count against me... do keep us updated on how you're doing on that diet, cos I could use losing a few pounds, and I'll go for it if it works for you. (16-and-a-half stone at 5'9" is probably a bit over what it should be...)

I'm with you - black coffee with sugar. Milk in coffee just dilutes the taste...

If you're at your points, you shouldn't feel too "on a diet."
And the great thing is that plenty of things are still points free for snacking, like veggies.

I used to take my coffee with milk & sugar, but I take it straight black now; I prefer it. I've tried to go back to just sweetener/sweetener & milk/just milk, but I can't go back now that i've gone black.

The greatest thing about that system is that after a few months of checking points, you start to get the ability to judge points/health benefits of meals (as well as portion size) -- They're tricking you into learning, the bastards!
