It's so great watching a movie snob in the making.

We just got back from seeing Spirited Away (which deserves all the accolades it's receiving, and then some). About halfway through the movie, Elayna turned to me and said, "too bad it's not widescreen." :-) I explained that it was widescreen, just that theatre screens are designed for it, so there's no black bar at the top. I'm so proud of her for noticing, though.

She also loved the movie. I don't know what the critics were saying about the dragon's blood being too intense, as it didn't bother her in the least. She was a bit more disturbed by some of the other imagery, especially the scenes with No-Face, but she was extremely well-behaved, and handled a complex, non-Disneyesque plot wonderfully.

As for me, I adored every second of the film. Loved the voices, loved the translation, loved the artwork (duh!), and loved the entire story. And I was also damned happy to see that the theatre was nearly full. Woohoo!
