The IMDB claims that there's a movie of Three Men in a Boat directed by Stephen Frears, adapted by Tom Stoppard, and starring Tim Curry and Michael Palin.

Why was I not told of this?

And why is not available in any format?

One of the funniest books of all time, adapted by a great writer, directed by a pretty damned good director, starring two people who can make bad movies palatable. And it's not even on VHS, let alone DVD.

Woah. About the only thing that could make that better is John Cleese. And maybe not even then.

Keep your eye on PBS ... they run it from time to time. And ever since I've started watching for it, they haven't run it at all.

Typical.

I think it may have something to do with it being Made for TV in the UK. You might check any BBC or CBC affiliates you get, too, along with your local PBS stations.

Sad, innit? The book made me laugh until I cried so many times I lost count. I bet the movie version is hilarious. And I'm probably never going to see it. Hmph.

If you do get it Tivoed, can I talk you into making a VHS copy for me? :)
