The poor little harridan's feelings were hurt by some satire, so she got her war-profiteering hubby/dictator (who doubles as "Vice President") to send a nasty note. I feel so bad for her.

Satire? Maybe. Things that are satirical have a tone to them, and deliberate hurtfulness runs afoul of that, so it can be hard to tell for sure which is which. But, having read this, I don't find it satirical at all. This was a slam, and a misguided one by a pathetic person.

For what it is worth, if you knew the news on this, you'd realize that neither Ms. Cheney nor her husband arranged for, or sent, the message indicating official displeasure. That message originated with the council for the White House, when the page was brought to the attention of their office. At the time of the note, neither V.P. Cheney nor his wife were aware of the issue.

But, I do feel bad for her -- she's being taunted because of who she happened to marry. That's rude, and unfortunate. Censorship is not necessary where common courtesy should prevail.

Now, if someone wants to slam the VP, I'm all for that. He's not only a valid target for criticism, but a necessary one these days.

I scanned the "biography" and the think that jumped out and gave me the guffaws was:

"the fight to halt the proliferation of offensively bourgeois china patterns."
