After the exhausting party day, we spent Sunday visiting [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and Elayna's cousins, followed by a long trip to Rooms to Go Kids. Elayna's grandparents had decided to buy her a new bedroom set, and the set they chose, after much deliberating and gnashing of teeth, was a damned nice one. Elayna will have the nicest desk in the house.

After all the errands were run, we went to Edo for dinner, meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] blueingenue as well. The food and show were great as always, although I was disappointed that the chef used hard boiled eggs for some of his tricks (past chefs have tossed uncooked eggs into their pockets). We followed this with a trip to Brusters for some health food.

After this, [livejournal.com profile] blueingenue and I headed over to [livejournal.com profile] voltbang's, where the three of us and [livejournal.com profile] jet_li_wannabe finished our last Blood Bowl night before [livejournal.com profile] voltbang and [livejournal.com profile] chelona move to Northern Virginia. [livejournal.com profile] blueingenue and I finally completed our months-long game (she won, as I still can't figure out how to stop stunty folks), and then there was much conversation. [livejournal.com profile] jet_li_wannabe ended up staying until nearly 1. I'll be making a post sometime later about the whole losing friend thing, but suffice to say, having folks move away always bothers me, and it seems to be raining or pouring on some level.

Ended up getting home but not being tired, so watched the latest Simpsons before heading to bed. That meant that I walked through Monday in the biggest fucking daze I've been in in a long time. I was pretty much useless at work, and only managed to stay up until 9:30 because I was thoroughly entertained by the Al Roker special on brew pubs on the Food Network (I now have to visit Pittsburgh). I then conked out, and am still exhausted today.

Moving away sucks too :(

I think it will continue to rain fairly hard for a while. This city has taken a bad hit with the loss of so many technology jobs, and with the terrible traffic, mass transit, schools, impending budgetary problems, and pollution, there's not much incentive for anyone to hang around and wait it out. I think you are in pretty good shape, as your employer should stay ok through the worst of it, but a lot of people you know could end up looking for work and finding there just isn't any.
