Elayna, looking at the calendar: So, today's the 20th, right?

Me: right.

Elayna: But that means we missed Victoria Day!

Me (after pausing): Honey, have you ever celebrated Victoria Day before? Do you even know what it is?

Elayna: Um, no.

Me: Don't worry about it. It's Canadian; they only celebrate it in Canada, like Canadian Thanksgiving.

K felt that any holiday was potentially a new gift-giving opportunity when she was Elayna's age. Sad that we had to squelch her childish dreams of ever-more loot... *g*

Hey! How come *I* didn't get the day off for Victoria Day!

We do celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving -- we call it Columbus Day. :-)

Just tell her that they serve roast Victoria and that it would be too fatty for her.

Damn. I thought that was the day we put on bustles and top hats and got weird and uncomfortable about sex. But I missed it this year too.
