So, I was reading the latest EW, and there was an article about Liz Phair, and her attempt to "reinvent" her sound and have some pop success (which I don't begrudge her -- I enjoyed Whip-Smart, which was her poppiest album to date). In the article, it mentioned that the record was produced by a group of folks called The Matrix (no relation), who have produced and helped write various pop albums, including Bowie's latest and That Avril Chick Who Can't Pronounce Bowie. They interviewed some of the folks at The Matrix, and one of the people they quoted was named Lauren Christie.

That name rung a bell, as I had a CD by a woman with the same name in my collection -- she had a buzz-bin wonder CD with her album Breed, whose debut single of the same name was pretty nifty. Turns out, after some Google searching, that it's the same one. The woman producing Liz's new CD wrote songs for the Christina Aguilera X-mas album. But she also scored Free Enterprise. It's just very schizophrenic.

Not sure what the point of this was. But I felt I had to jot it down.

The name is actually Lauren Christy for clarification. I know cause I have the CD as well.

I found this really awesome article on "The Matrix" here (http://mixonline.com/microsites/magazinearticle.asp?mode=print&magazinearticleid=157513&releaseid=&srid=11372&magazineid=141&siteid=15)

...and I'm reasonably certain that I used a Lauren Christy track on at least one of the CDs that I've given to [livejournal.com profile] shadesong, although I'd have to go back through the track listings to confirm. Even if there's no LC on any of the CDs, some of her songs were considered for inclusion. She's relatively brilliant.

How does the Avril chick pronounce Bowie? I've learned that how I've always said it is the American way -- Bow as in tying a bow - ee. Here, it's Bow as in a man bowing to the Queen -- ee. :)

Good song, but I prefer "I Want What I Want" and "The Night I Saved Peter Ustinov" and "Boomerang Bang" to that one.
