Okay, not the West coast, per se. But I'm in the Westernmost point of the Eastern Time Zone, and it's the second longest day of the year. The sun is still up at almost 10. That's just weird. I'm used to being on the eastern side of the EST zone.

The conference is fun. No dieting is happening, as they insist on feeding us prime rib, barbecue, and other goodies, complete with open bars at night. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.

What I'd complain about is the fact that not only are we living in dorms, but there's a significant group of folks who seem to want to relive their college days (lame when you're 24 or so, pathetic when you're 44), and think it's cool to run shouting through the halls at three in the morning. Hell, I thought those people were assholes back when I was in college.

Aside from that, the conference is great. Good presentations so far, and the campus here is nice.

My presentation is at 9 tomorrow morning, and I'm personally shitting bricks. I really hope only four or five people show up. Seriously. I hate speaking at people. I'm fine with a Q&A, but I suck at talking to folks without interaction. But at least it'll be over by 10, and I can spend the rest of the time here not worrying about it.

In other news, I'm reading Krokodil Tears, by "Jack Yeovil." It's the second of his Dark Future trilogy, and I'm really loving it. He has Neil Gaiman writing racist TinTin books, and himself, in his other identity as Kim Newman, as a film director. I've also seen a reference to Joe Lansdale's God of the Razor. Very nifty.

Now, off to finish the PowerPoint presentation, and read a bit. I'll catch up on LJ comments tomorrow.
