Random Geekery
Jun. 24th, 2003 09:07 amLast night's event sucked -- about four hours of driving for a truly dull experience. Blah.
Anyway, good geek news:
Computers:
Apple announced an obscenely fast computer yesterday that I can't afford. They also announced the new iChat (Foxmagic, safe to say this is what you were so psyched about last week?), Panther, and a new webcam, which I wantwantwant.
Comics:
Random House is starting their own Manga line. No details, yet, but it's another sign of the growth of the market.
Anyone following the latest Marvel headlines needs to read the latest Lying in the Gutters (hell, if you read comics, you need to read this weekly column). This week also has a fascinating story about JMS and the lateness of Rising Stars.
DVDs:
DVDFile has announced the specs for the DVD of Holes: Aside from being Widescreen, there'll be extras two commentaries with the filmmakers and the cast, a making-of featurette, deleted scenes, a gag reel, music video and trailers.
Cartoons:
Aussie_NYC and I watched the first episode of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy last week, and it was hysterical, living up to the potential it had shown when they first debuted it a few years back.

Date: 2003-06-24 03:41 pm (UTC)You have a popular cult comic written by a popular cult writer who has produced a popular cult tv show that became popular despite everything the networks could do to stop it. You want to produce a film based on this writer's comic, probably figuring you'd like a bit of that cult cash. So you . . . cut him out of the process completely, thus guaranteeing the audience for the comic will never go see your movie?
