After seeing all the reports of how this movie broke Labor Day records, I realized that most of the press was ignoring the other record that was set. So I decided to write up the story myself:

Jeepers Creepers 2 sets record for pederast-directed films.

Jeepers Creepers 2, directed by convicted child molester Victor Salva, set a new record this weekend for films directed by pederasts, drawing $18.5 million. The movie, which was the darling of this year's NAMBLA Film Festival, tells the story of a predatory creature who discovers a stranded school bus and picks off the teenage boys on the bus one at a time. It is rumored to be semi-autobiographical.

Pedophile Salva, who served fifteen months in jail in the early 1990s for molesting a twelve-year-old boy, was unavailable for comment.

Francis Ford Coppola, whose American Zoetrope company produced the movie, was proud of the accomplishment.

"Well, it's not the same as the record for movies directed by sex offenders," he said, referring to noted rapist Roman Polanski's 1988 film Frantic, which made over $20 million after adjusting for inflation, "but we're all proud of Victor. He keeps growing as a director, and we don't have any doubt that he'll soon be the most successful sex offending director in the world."

(Yeah, you can forward this one if you'd like, as long as you retain my copyright and a disclaimer that it's satire. Which doesn't make the the molestation conviction and the fact that Coppola is financially supporting this shithead any less true, alas.)

Ok, I apologize, Bigot is too strong a term to use - I reacted eomotionally because your satire bothers me in the meat of it:

Are you saying:

"I don't forgive this person for his crime; therfore I do not think others (such as Copola, movie companies) should either?"

If there is another statement in the satire there, I am missing it.

Or are you wishing that his crime was made more known as to make it difficut for him to work?

That's how it looks to me. I mean, is this guy supposed to be on the dole for the rest of his life or what (setting aside my opinion that 15 months is a rather short sentence for a short-pants)? And I speak as an incest survivor, so I know pretty damn well how damaging child molestation is to the victim. And was it a child under 14, or was it statutory rape? Either way, at least this one served his time. Polanski's been avoiding the law since the news broke.

I think as well as long as I am beating strawmen: Critical thought leads us to the idea that Forgiveness does not imply Aproval/Consent, yet it is easy to fall into this logical trap.

Witness those who viewed the pursuit of peace with approval of Saddam's regime, Pro-choice as pro-abortion, etc...

I think we should be less worried that a child-molester is making movies and more worried that a piece of shit like "Jeepers Creepers" somehow got a fucking sequel.

Yeah, 'tis a little disingenuous to pick on one guy who was convicted and served his time when there are many orders of magnitude more who, for example, endanger children's lives on a daily basis, without remorse, for profit (deliberate choice of emotive words).

It was a 12-year old boy. And no, he doesn't have to be on the dole for the rest of his life, but given a limited amount of funds, and a decent amount of good art to support, I feel I can aim my money at other folks.

No argument about Polanski (who I've ranted about before).

True about forgiveness, though. A disctinction I do need to remember on occasion.
