Doing a web search for an old document of mine, I was reminded of the fact that there's another person out there with my first and last names, and a similar middle name (Michael to my Mitchell). And he's posted comments on Making Light. He used to pop up on alt.tv.simpsons all the time, and it's the reason I never got involved in Simpsons fandom. Not that he seems like a bad sort, or anything, but that's always been a bit eerie to me. I suspect that other folks have occasionally confused us as well. At the time I first encountered him, I was still at Emory, and he was a student at BU. And from his web page then, I found out that we'd both grown up in NYC (he'd gone to Stuyvesant, I went to Collegiate). Very small world.

I also found that my review of the most recent (and nigh-unreadable) Anita Blake book has been mentioned in a blog over here. However, I can't read the blog, nor can I get Babelfish to do anything good to it. Anyone know what they're saying about me?

Oh, and I found my delurking post from the Leadheads list.

And I apparently contributed to the SNL FAQ. I haven't the faintest recollection of this, but it must be true.

Never found the document I was looking for, alas.

I have no Dutch, myself, but www.systranbox.com has plenty. It looks like he's not talking much about you at all, only saying that there's an eleventh Anita Blake book out, and that Adam Lipkin of Bookslut isn't gentle in his critique of the latest book. Then it looks like he goes on to talk about how he needs to update his book database because it's sadly out of date.

And there you have it.

Well, [livejournal.com profile] davien, who knows German, was trying to take a crack at it. Though it's not German. She did say this: "haha. That sentence is basically "It's so bad that as soon as I started reading it, I wish I hadn't spent time reading it.""

So it looks like it's a guy who's agreeing with you.

Collegiate is a great school. It was mentioned many times in The Nanny Diaries.

Something of a translation

This is what I got using WorldLingo (http://www.worldlingo.com/products_services/worldlingo_translator.html) (since InterTran doesn't play nice anymore):

Temporary depth point was the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter-serie. A serial which zó were bad, which I them ever are start read, and that it has lasted to the fifth book honour I realised that I had already ever read them.

Wel, of Anita Blake an eleventh book has appeared exactly. And Adam Lipkin on Bookslut is not tender:
The eleventh book in the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series confirms that the series, never much more than a guilty pleasure to begin with, has long since degenerated into a muddled series of sex scenes interspersed with a nonsensical plot. This is The Color of Her Panties for the x-rated set.
And that does think me, I must keep my book database urgently once up to date. There its so many books recovered since the previous time that I have still motivated. Only already at Wheel or Time are lacking there already three!

Those Color or her Panties-referentie above refer as a matter of fact to Xanth. And of Xanth have I there twelve, already is that immediately something for fier on to be.

hmm
