Why does that Yu-Gi-Oh guy look like a reject from an 80s band? No, really, he has that Duran Duran/Spandau Ballet/Adam Ant-wannabe thing working. The hair, the clothes, the makeup -- it's so New Romantic. Is that all the rage among the kidlets now, or something?
We just got Miss Kid her first Yu-Gi-Oh starter pack!
Oh . . . my . . . gawd.
Speaking as a person that has spent thousands of dollars on collectable card games, and somebody that associates with many people that have spent obscene amounts of money on collectable card games (whether for themselves of their kids) I can say that you're in for an interesting ride. Not good, not bad, just interesting. Intellectual games like these make a great basis for both strategic and lateral thinking. I just found it funny that the rulebook specifically mentions that you have to shake your opponent's hand at the start of the game. ;)
My niece and I did the Harry Potter TCG thing for a long time, but then it kind of died out. It was disappointing. We had a lot of fun going to Books-A-Million and playing with other kids.
Yu-Gi-Oh! is a really fun game. It can get really expensive when you start buying booster packs though. My friends and I have spent so much it is sickening.
