Made it home last night, forgot to post.

The last two days were as good as the first two. Thursday, the conference itself went really well, and I then got to have dinner with [livejournal.com profile] stronae and [livejournal.com profile] ijk at the best German Restaurant I've ever eaten at. It was yummy. After [livejournal.com profile] ijk went to her practice, [livejournal.com profile] stronae and I hung out for a while (and I got to "meet" [livejournal.com profile] fipplebuss by way of cell phone), and we then headed back to the hotel, where we hung out and talked while I packed for the next day. After a while, he had to go, and I had to crash.

Friday, after taking care of some last minute business and checking out, [livejournal.com profile] morenasangre and [livejournal.com profile] farren picked me up, and we headed to St. Petersburg and the Salvador Dali Museum. It was a two-hour drive, but like all time spent with [livejournal.com profile] morenasangre and [livejournal.com profile] farren, it passed quickly, as we rambled on just about every topic for the entire drive.

The museum itself is just wonderful. I'd liked everything I'd seen of Dali's, but now that I've seen a great portion of his work, I'm just in awe of him. The man may have been the last genius in the world of painting. Wow. I managed to resist going wild in the gift shop, buying only a two-deck pack of Dali playing cards.

We then headed to a very nifty Spanish restaurant called The Columbia, where we pigged out on wonderful food and Sangria.

This was followed by a drive from hell through Tampa-area traffic. With us leaving at 3:45, I got to the airport at around 6:15. It's the closest I've ever cut it for a flight. And it was worth it -- just a damned fine day with two of my favorite people.

So, I'm back now. And tired. And completely out of the LJ loop. If you posted anything from before today that you want me to read, please drop me a line to let me know.

Welcome home hon! Sounds like you had a great time. I love Dali! Though I'm an even bigger fan of Picasso and Gaudi. Still, very fun!!! I have posted nothing of substance, but I still expect you to comment, just because I miss you sunny face in my LJ! ;)

Take care!

Did you know that when Karla was in London she stayed with her friend Slim Dali, Salvador's nephew. Pretty cool.

I love the Columbia restaurant. Whenever I get back down to Tampa (to visit relatives), it's a must see. If you are ever there on a Friday or Saturday night - try to get reservations during one of their flamenco dance shows.

And perhaps eventually we'll meet IRL? :)
