Friday morning update.

So, last night I caught up on some Tivo (Karen Sisco had Aphrodite in a supporting role!), including the original Insomnia, which is proof that not all American remakes of foreign thrillers are bad, as the original was about a third the movie that Chris Nolan gave us.

This morning, Shadesong had another seizure -- her first in a while, but proof that the meds obviously aren't working yet. I'm thinking that a combination of sleep deprivation and emotional trauma helped trigger it. Not fun for any of us (fortunately, Miss Kid was in another room when it happened).

EDIT: For those who don't know (since I've gotten at least one offline email asking about it): shadesong has complex partial seizures due to temporal lobe epilepsy. It doesn't produce the stereotypical grand mal seizures (with shaking, etc), but instead leads to her being unable to process or react to any outside stimuli. From the outside, it's almost like she's in a trance.

Speaking of Miss Kid, her spelling test today includes works like "moccasins," "nomadic," "Navajo," and "Pueblo." Yep, they're doing a segment on Native American (another spelling word) history. She always gets the harder lists, because even though she's occasionally sloppy on the tests, she's good at picking up spelling. She quizzed well on the words last night on the way to Karate.

Oh, it's also cold as a titch's wit today.

Off to a morning of meetings, followed by an afternoon without them.
