So, Amazon has changed their wishlist structure. Now, on your wishlist page, you no longer have a nice convenient drop-down with everyone else's wish lists available.

So I figured I'd just go to my Amazon Friends page, and I could get to wislists from there. I went to an "About" page for a friend, and noticed that the wish list link is gone. Completely. Tried it on other folks, and it's gone for them, too.

I emailed Amazon, and got the response, "We're sorry to hear that you dislike this new feature on our web
site."

"Feature?" What the fuck? That's not a feature. That's a fucking downgrade. Motherfuckers. They've made their own site incredibly less useful, and they don't seem to give a rat's ass.

Wonder if anyone else has bitched to them about it. I can't imagine anyone, other than whatever unqualified sysadmin blew Jeff Bezos to get into position to make this change, thinking that this is a good idea.

Don't you know...

...the gods of Amazon were displeased so they removed the "feature" with a new (dumber) "feature".

You need to sacrifice a polar bear immediately on an altar made entirely out of evergreen needles and pine cones.

Godspeed.

Odd for Amazon -- they always seem to be very much pro-customer and of the "fuck the over-zealous sysadmin" mentality (ie, shopping cart contents never expire, etc.)

Makes me wonder if there's another frivolous software patent infringement behind it...

Damn, I hate finding out about features after they're gone. I'd say "wish I'd known about that before" but I guess now I don't coz I just be irritated too!

Reply to the "sorry you dislike our new feature" email with one that starts with THANKS FOR THE FORM LETTER MORONS! HOW ABOUT ACTUALLY *READING* WHAT I SENT YOU. Then state up front you're complaining about the removal of a feature not the addition of one.

Not that I've had to start any emails to ebay that way or anything. Nope. Not at all.

You know what else they don't have that really blows goats? They don't show you what on your wish list is available used anymore. I mostly use my wish list for myself - I put books and CDs on there that I know I'll want to buy eventually, and I watch until one comes up for really cheap on Marketplace. (I've gotten books for around 30 cents a couple of times.) And I can't do that anymore. Fuckers.

I'm sure after they get enough complaints something will be done about it.

If I go to the "Your Store" page (it should be the tab right next to "Welcome"), I still get the "Your used wishlist items" box on the lower right.

Yeah, I noticed that. I couldn't find a way to view anyone's wish list the last time I was there. I've been consistently disappointed with the poor and confusing architecture of their site. For such a major website that doubtless gets thousands of hits per day, they really should have it laid out more intuitively...

yes...definatley VERY frustrating..now you ahve to go and search for everyones wish list individually..they are my friends..it whouldnt be that hard.

In another amazon "feature" note: i really wish you could somehow mark objects as "for me" or "for others" so things you buy for other people dont affect your recommendations. Just becuase i buy an odd collection of things for others doesnt mean i want all of that recommended for me

When you go to your wishlist, near the top of the page just above "Welcome to your Wist List...", click on "About You".

Then you'll have the drop down list of your friends' wishlists on the top right hand corner.

Still annoying, though.

I'll make sure and tell my friends that work there that you said so. ;)

Seriously, I'm getting majorly pissed at how many times things that I rely on have been disappearing on the site.

I no longer get alerts from them about authors I like, and all they say to me is that there seems to be a problem with this and that the programmers have been notified. My response amounts to:Fuck you very much...
