What's wrong with pop music today

yendiIt's been twenty years since we've had a pop song containing the lyrics "She's got the love monkey riding on her back," or "Make the monkey blind," and fifteen years since we've had one asking, "Do you love your monkey or do you love me?"
Really. If Britney would just add some monkeys to her lyrics, she'd do wonders for her oeuvre. Who wouldn't have liked "Hit My Monkey One More Time?"
(two out of those three songs are really really recognizable. The third is for folks who spent too much time watching MTV in the '80s, and is thus, in my opinion, just as recognizable as the other two)
