That AFA poll

So, I didn't bother posting or voting in the AFA poll, since I don't like visiting websites belonging to hate groups, and I saw no point in any "poll" they'd run.

Not surprisingly, though, we now have proof that the AFA is rigging their poll (link found thanks to dtaylor). Anyone who is shocked at this really knows nothing about Wildmon and his pigfucking ilk. His group has as much to with "America" and "Families" as Dick Cheney has to do with "honesty" and "ethics."

That would be me. I know nothing about them. I only, this year, decided to speak out (and actually learn about) anything vaguely political. I am of the wishing to know, but not knowing where to go, ilk of LJ'ers out here.

So, that said; Adam - I know nothing about these people - would you care to enlighten me?

In a nutshell, the "American Family Association" is a group of pigfuckers founded by the "Reverend" Donald Wildmon. They started as " The National Federation For Decency," but they then realized that putting "family" in their name makes them seem more sincere (they're doing it for the children, after all). Basically, if it involves sex, drugs, humor, fun, or anything that's not 100% Christian, they're opposed to it. They attempt to use slap suits and other means to economically drive artists and filmmakers out of business, and, as you can probably gather from the "poll," they've got almost no regard for the truth.

That, then, makes their taking votes away all that much more understandable.

Its good to know the name of the enemy, and thank you for taking time to help clarify your post on why you felt the poll was pointless.

I would have felt the same way if I had had your point of view. Sort of a 'why bother'. Now, as it stands, they have my full name and my email address because I voted, and that makes me feel vaguely sick.

I voted just because I thought it might irritate them. But then, I am easily amused.

I voted because I can always delete their spam and I like messing with people's stats. [eg]

Their editing of data is in response to an attack from a script to log votes.

The votes were invalid, therefore, and needed to be removed. Not rigging at all, but correcting against abuse.

Even the 'good' side will occasionally have 'bad' eggs...
