First day of classes, jiggity-fuck!

Oh yeah. And I've got two meetings (including one at which I get to do a presentation). Today is Behind the 8-Ball Day! Woo!

Since the new Gilmore Girls was bumped to last week, I got to watch the finale of Celebrity Poker Showdown last night (instead of Tivoing the late-night re-air). Damned fun. Went to the Bravo site, and looks like everyone (myself included) voted for the eventual second-place winner (not going to spoil it, for other Tivo-heads). Still, what a finale. The fact that the final five consisted of folks with genuine comedy experience (David "Mr Show/Arrested Development" Cross, Nicole "MadTV/Shego on Kim Possible) Sullivan, Willie "Sex and the City" Garson, Paul Rudd, and some guy from the West Wing who I could care less about) made for a fun evening. The appearances by all the famous losers who Bravo really wanted in the finals (Shannon Elizabeth, Ben Affleck, David Schwimmer), alas, dragged the show down a bit. But I'm definitely in for next season.

I owe about a hundred comment replies. Will attempt to catch up a little bit this afternoon, but I might not finish with my inbox until Friday. All comments on the Bender mask were muchly appreciated!

You've got my sympathy...we've been in session for a friggin' week now, and I'm still not used to it. Tonight we've got division meetings, and since the head of the department has a doctor's appointment, I (the humble adjunct) got stuck with running the damn division meeting, and then staying here until 8 o'clock. I feel your pain, my friend. May you survive and find a warm TIVO at the end of your day...

Man! TiVo rocks! But I don't don't what the husband did, but it recorded like 27 shows yesterday, most we don't even watch!

Gilmore Girls was bumped to *last* week? Please tell me it ain't so! Tell me it's for *next* week! If there was a new Gilmore Girls last week I missed it. That is my favorite show on TV!

That's the "Tivo's Suggestions" thing. As you guys record more and use the thumb-up and thumb-down button more, it'll start to get more accurate. But it's a good thing. It only uses free space, so you'll never lose shows that you schedule because of the suggestions. And it gets pretty smart. I have "East Meets West" with two thumb's up, and when Ming Tsai was on the Today show, it recorded it.
