More HHGttG casting news. Looks like they got this one right -- Sam Rockwell looks a little young for the part, but since Zooey Unspellablelastname is way too young for Trillian, they're being consisitant, I guess. And otherwise, Rockwell has great potential -- he was the Bill Gates-esqe guy from the first Charlie's Angels, and the redshirt that no one remembered in Galaxy Quest. More importantly, he's not only talented, but he's so big that he'll overwhelm the character. He'll try to become Zaphod.

That is great news. THe Mos Def as Ford I thought was odd, but the choice for Arthur is going to be really amazing.

I remember Ivan Reitman saying at the UK premiere of Ghostbusters back in 1984, that his next film would be HHGTTG. That or "Build a Galatic Hero", which I finally worked out several days later was what he thought one of Harry Harrison's finest moments was called.

YES! Sam Rockwell is so perfect for Zaphod. I didn't even think of him, but that's absolutely wonderful. He's going to steal this movie.

I'm still mad about Mos Def, though. Ford must be ENGLISH. I'll only be mollified if he does an accent.

And back then, BtGH (regardless of the correct "B") really referred to one of his best projects. Before he watered everything down with the horrible co-authored sequels.

I was debating this at work with a co-worker today. The thing is, Adams, good as he was, wrote everyone like they were British, including aliens and Americans. So must Ford be British? No one explicitly comments on his accent, but it's not necessarily explicitly British, either. And Mos Def is very capable of doing laid-back, which is what the part needs.
