After helping [livejournal.com profile] shadesong bake cookies for her writing marathon, I attempted my own mini-marathon. Alas, although I cranked out two complete reviews (the Alexander Irvine and Adam Freedman ones), I failed in my mission to get the rest of my Bookslut writing done. I did, however, write half of my Miéville column (much trickier, as it's neither the generally positive tone I had in the first two reviews, nor the horrendously awful feeling one gets after reading anything that, say, Laurell K. Hamilton has written -- Miéville puts in too much effort to dismiss in quite as flip a manner). I also finally nailed a column theme for this month -- I'd somehow never written a column on Michael Marshall Smith (and a quick search of Bookslut reveals that other than two comments I made in columns, and [livejournal.com profile] kizlj's reference to him in the article on Earthling Press, he's never gotten hype anywhere in the 'zine. So, yeah. Column topic is ready to go when my fingers uncramp.

Otherwise, I cleared out one box of books, caught some baseball, ate some pizza, and that's it.

At some point, I need to rant about Bravo fucking spoiling the very episode of Celebrity Poker Showdown I was watching by showing a commercial for the finals the next week that showed this week's winner, but that can wait for another post. Or maybe not. Fuck Bravo. Fuck whatever idiot producer thought to air that commercial (during the first fucking run of this week's episode). May three decks of very crisp cards forever be shuffled inside his rectum.

Anyway, fingers hurt (as does my leg, but that's also another post, and doesn't affect my ability to type). Off to relax now.
