Yeah, we saw Spidey 2 this afternoon.

And yeah, every review you read is right, except for the part where they understate how good it is. Because it's not possible to overstate it.

Plus, best Bruce Campbell moment ever. And it wasn't during either of the two (that I caught) overt ED and AoD shout-outs.

Wonderful, serious acting from almost everyone, something that most superhero movies miss, even when they have good actors (see the Batman flicks). The only overacting was from J.K. Simmons, who is perfect as J. Jonah Jameson. But everyone else -- McGuire, Molina (best performance of his career), Harris, even Dunst -- turns in a great performance. Add in great f/x (way better than the first movie), and a solid screenplay that has stuff for the regular folks and the comic geeks, and Raimi just put all the pieces together perfectly. Wow.

No, not going over any details here. No spoilers. You should see this without knowing what to expect.

EDIT: Oh, and that was Donna Murphy as Doc Ock's wife -- she was just on the Tony's performing her bit from "Wonderful Town." No singing here, alas.

Donna Murphy is just, something about her... sexy.

Without going into spoiler territory, did you notice that they somehow, magically pulled off "superhero comic talk" without having it come off as somehow silly?

You know.. when villians or heroes talk out loud, sometimes alone?

"... powers... weakened... cannot.. win this fight... must.." etc etc...

The whole thing was just outstanding. And the operating room? Holy cow.

Molina said so much without saying anything.. his expressions were so perfect.. I loved the Alex Ross opening.. I loved the fighting.. I loved in interactions.. I even liked Harry descending to madness on a rollercoaster.

I want to say Alfred Molina gave an award worthy performance.. but i'd be fooling myself.. it should at least clean up at the MTV movie awards

I just couldn't laugh at Bruce Campbell, he still owes me that hour of my life I wasted on Bubba Ho-Tep.

I really like Molina; he's such a smart and interesting actor, and his Doc Ock was one of the best screen villains I've seen in a very long time. And pairing him with Donna Murphy was one of those great little pieces of screen synergy that I was sorry to not see more of. It makes what happens to them all the more upsetting.

If you check out Bruce's website, he mentions how "Annoying Usher" is the best Spidey villian ever. He does what no other villain has done. He stops Spiderman...

Glad to see someone else caught the ED/AOD camera shots... *sniff* so beautiful...
