Looks like I won't be getting the Spidey 2 DVD next month, as Sam has already announced a Spidey 2.5 DVD set. I'd rather know now than after the release, as happened with a certain other Marvel super-hero movie that shall go nameless (but it begins with an X and isn't Xaredevil, Xulk, or Xlade (the only Marvel super-hero to sing "Run Runaway")).

Speaking of Mega-hit Marvel movies, looks like we've got less than a year until we get the wonder known as Man-Thing on the big screen. Expect more Giant-Sized Man-Thing jokes over the course of the next year.

Best. Law. Ever. Now we just have to pass the same one in the US. Alternatively, I'm fully in favor of simply being allowed to kill anyone using a cell phone in a theatre.

The UBL has finally failed me. Anyone know what ever happened to Suddenly Tammy!?

Okay, I knew that Shatner had a new album out, but why didn't anyone tell me that Henry Rollins is a guest on one of the songs?

Speaking of new things you and I both need, how about [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna's book, The Labyrinth? You can read all about it (inlcuding how to promote it, get signed copies, take a quiz, etc) over here.

Oh, and Eminem has pissed off Michael Jackson! Jacko accuses him of being "insensitive." Didn't he see the frigging South Park episode last year? Or Scary Movie 3?

Quote of the moment:

These girls want the same thing that you want.

No, Peter, I don't believe any of these women want my mother dead.

Anyone who recognizes it caught one of the best damned tv series Fox fucked over (a very non-exclusive club).

Finally, cool moment of the day: [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and I went to the Alternative Transportation office, as they promised gas and coffee cards for carpoolers. They weren't kidding. We each got a $5 Starbucks card and a $10 Shell card. That nicely covers two of our most important needs.

Sam has already announced a Spidey 2.5 DVD set.

Mrr. From imdb.com news:

It is really not a matter of his wanting to release a director's extended cut of the film, Raimi indicated. "Sony said to me, 'We want to release a 2.5,' because they want to make more money. It's not really that I had some scenes to put in. The movie really was the best I could make it. It's not like I think I could make it better." Asked why the studio is waiting until next year to release the extended version, Raimi responded: "It's just a financial decision by the studio. They know that people who liked the second movie would want to own it as it is on DVD, and then it's just a gamble. 'Oh, if we spend another four million dollars, can we make another ten million dollars?' I think that's how it works."

It's the best track on there, IMO. "Common People" coming in a close second, though.

Disagree. Immensely.

Don't get me wrong, if you're taking a call and it's more than a 2 second whisper (and PLEASE turn the ringer off, set it to vibrate or whatever) go outside. But how are they going to determine emergency calls?

You're just getting into the movie. Your child is at home with the babysitter, has an accident, and injures herself to the degree of warranting a 911 call. How is the theater to know that the call coming from your home is an emergency, not a bored loquacious sibling? How does that get through? Let's say you left the number for the theater. Great! We can call the theater. Instead of being a brief slight interruption on the phone, the theater can now pause the playing of the movie, send in a person to call for Mr. Yendi to exit the theater as there is an emergency, and then start the movie again for everyone else. (Of course, if it's on multiple screens, they'll have to do this until they find the one you are in.)

Don't get me wrong, I am all for people chatting on phones getting kicked out of the theater, should they not have the courtesy to step out if they take the call. I just don't think that blocking the signal is a good way to do it.

I used to love Suddenly Tammy! I once saw them do an in-store at the late, great indie CD shop, 3rd Street Jazz and Rock, in Philly, their hometown and mine.

Have you seen the Ectophiles' guide entry to them? (I'm on the Ecto list.)

I'd rather be able to jam cell phones of people I see driving.
better: FRY the phone. oh that would be so sweet.
sure would cut down on cellin' and drivin'.
the trick is making just that phone go down, and not the car too,
not to mention all the other cars/phones around you.
GRR!

Of course, none of this would be necessary if people would JUST FUCKING THINK!
(you know, of someone other than themselves)

I think the contact-the-theatre option was the standard when Mrs. A.G. Bell had fallen and could not get up, and New York City emergency services interrupted a Great White Way performance of The Fortune Teller to alert Mr. Bell to his wife's calamity and peril. It is still the standard today, with good reason. People are idiotic and can't be expected to misuse things.

While a cell phone interruption might be preferable, until our society stops being so boorish and intent on talking any and everywhere, it'll have to do. I mean, people pay two hundred bucks a seat to see Paul McCartney and refuse to shut up.

Man-Thing. It was a reeeeeeeally late night of drinking when they cooked up the name of that hero.

And imagine that...the French actually do something I agree with for once.

Xulk, was a great DVD release. I liked the alternate ending where it turns out that Betty was also infected with the nanobots and became Iron Woman.

I still have not seen anything concrete on Man Thing. In fact the last two things I saw at Chud and AICN seemed to say it was dead.

Score on the Carpool Comps.

so, didya hear that Crossgen's assets were bought?... by DISNEY. (http://newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19167) and for a mere $1 million, which pretty much means all those writers and artists who haven't gotten paid might get a few pennies of what's owed them...
