So I'm looking at this list of discontinued food, and getting nostalgic for things like Marathon Bars, Apple Slice, Ranch Wheatables, Hostess Chocobliss, etc. So many great junk food options that I used to love, no longer available at all.

Then I saw:

Reese's Sweet & Sour Cabbage

Um. Ew.

"You got your sweet and sour sauce in my cabbage!"

"No, you got your cabbage in my sweet and sour sauce!"

*munch*

"Hey, this is good!"

I just don't see it.

It was probably some kind of sauerkraut. PU.

And awwww. no banana Quik.

I could've sworn I just saw Bacardi Breezers at the store. Although I think it was a frozen mix that you added your own booze to, not a wine cooler. I think they made both under the same label.

Erm...I believe it's a German dish. Nothing to do with sweet and sour sauce.
But I wonder if the discontinued one had peanut butter in it. ;D

I think it was in one of the Brown Paper Bag books that I read, in summer camp, that some brand had introduced Chile con Carne ice cream to market. It didn't last long, though.

The Marathon Bar still lives. It's called the Curly Wurly, and is made in England.

I get mine at the local Harry's Farmers Market. Yum.

No, it is nothing like sauerkraut. It's generally made with red cabbage, for one thing.

Several brands are still on the market, and all the ones I've tried are pretty good.

Almost Home Cookies

Waaah! They were my decadent treat from the U. Md. campus bookstore...

Nabisco Gaiety Fudge Chocolate Sandwiches

Oh, the tasteless jokes I could make...

Peter Paul Peanut Butter, No Jelly

I never tried the candy bar, but I remember the tearjerker TV commercials...

Pillsbury Funny Face Drink Mixes

Oh yes, the big smiley face on the pitcher... and I can *almost* remember the jingle...

Sugar Mommas

I guess they decided that Sugar Daddies and Sugar Babies *could* be a family in this modern age ;-)

wow, I had almost forgotten about Bonne Belle's Lip Smackers in Soda flavor...

and what, did Brach's go out of business? Come to think of it, I haven't seen Brach's candies in drugstores... not that Brach's was the best candy-maker or anything, it was just ALWAYS for sale in EVERY drugstore I ever went into.

Also, whatever happened to the infamous "Tunnel of fudge" cake? You ever eat one of those? That started with a recipe contest in the '60s made originally from a boxed frosting mix. I came across a recipe for it the other day and fondly remember eating it when I was little. I think I might make that for my dinner party heh heh.
