The 2005 baseball season
Mar. 31st, 2005 01:59 pmA day ahead of April 1, ESPN's Page 2 has their predictions for the entire season. My favorites:
April 4: The Mets-Reds opener comes to a halt when Mets first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz catches a pop-up for his first put-out with his new team, and refuses to return the ball to play.
June 4: Jose Canseco releases a book about grammar and steroids titled: "Cheats, Shoots Up & Leaves."
August 29: To the horror of fans, Ken Griffey, Jr.'s hamstring spontaneously combusts while he is in the on-deck circle waiting to bat in his first game back from injury.
September 22: The Braves clinch the National League East with a win over the Phillies, setting off a wild celebration in their locker room. Disaster strikes, though, when shortstop Rafael Furcal, a little tipsy from the champagne, runs over John Smoltz with a bullpen car and knocks him out of the playoffs.
