I keep forgetting that we get The Sundance Channel (as it used to be a part of the Showtime package, but is now available in whatever package we get).

I now have, sitting on my Tivo, Audition (which I'll be watching tonight or tomorrow).

I'll have The Eye later this week.

And they're showing The Happiness of the Katakuris in early June.

Don't get your hopes up too high for The Eye. I mean, it's good, but not the end-all be-all. There are exactly three hair-raising moments — the creepiest one, for me, is the first ghost in the hospital hall, though lots of people also cite the elevator sequence — and what seems to be a lot of filler. For maximum jump effect, have the volume cranked.

Audition takes about a good 45 minutes to get going, but stick with it and it becomes extremely disturbing.

As for Katakuris, I got nothin'. Haven't seen it yet.

Katakuris is so daffy but in that i-love-it-cuz-its-japanese sort of way. a really really twisted version of The Sound of Music!

Audition freaked me out. I started watching it with some friends one night, without too much warning about what it was about. I had to leave in the middle to run to the store. I came back half an hour later and I wasn't sure we were watching the same movie.

I don't think it will spoil too much to say that after that, anyone can make me cringe by murmuring "deeperdeeperdeeperdeeperdeeperdeeperdeeperdeeper"...

Decent movies all, but watch Katakuris with other people. It's more entertaining when you're hearing friends constantly murmuring (or shrieking) "What the FUCK???"

IAWTC.

Also, I love Audition so very, very much. Miike is uniquely disturbing.

I adored Audition but it gave me a major freak out. Just at a crucial scene the phone rang and scared the bejeezus out of us. I picked up the phone and started yelling. Luckily it was a friend. Unluckily he was calling me about a job.
