Okay, I'm officially a fan. I'd mentioned reading Cowl earlier this week. I just finished The Skinner this morning, and have started Gridlinked. This guy's not only really really good, he's also capable of incredible variations in style. Cowl is a very nifty time-travel story, The Skinner is a tale of adventure/political intrigue, and it looks as if Gridlinked is going to go the hard-boiled route (not that the books are as easily pigeonholed as I make it sound). He's shown a damned fine talent for both characterization and plotting in both the novels I've finished.

I know I'm relatively late to the party on this one, but I'm still glad I finally started reading him. Definitely an author to keep an eye on.

I've got a love/hate relationship with the genre, but when an author pulls it off, I'm always happy.

Oh, I agree -- I suppose I should say I love a GOOD time travel story. Dean Koontz's Lightning has a good twist, if not an overall good story.

*smiles* Read Gridlinked a while back, which probably means we need to reread it. I'm sure I saw The Skinner in the spare room recently, so we're defintely going to pick that up for our flight, if we don't pick it up before.

Hmm. I think you've mentioned him before, but you're aware of the existence of Mick Farren, aren't you? He's also good with various styles.

Hell yes! I discovered the Phaid books right around puberty, which led me to some interesting expectations. :-)

Got 'em both! TMW, in fact, drove me nuts as a kid, because it was the first book in which I found a serious editorial mistake (at one point, the soldiers have been killed off down to X, Y, Z, and Q, but later we're told that the remaining soldiers are X, Y, Z, and P).
