Yes, we finally succumbed and went to Ikea today. Spent four hours there, and bought nothing other than food.

Both Elayna and [livejournal.com profile] shadesong want to live there. :-)

Elayna also discovered that she likes Swedish meatballs as long as they're not covered by gravy. [livejournal.com profile] docorion ate them with gravy, [livejournal.com profile] shadesong had a few of them along with some carrot cake, and I had the poached salmon.

Yes, we went to a furniture store, and I'm reporting on the food we ate. :-)

We also grabbed cinnamon rolls and coffee at the shop on the way out.

We pretty much covet everything in the store, but we're not planning on buying anything until we get to Boston. But since there's an Ikea opening up there, this was a scouting trip. And oh, it was fun.

Last time I went to Ikea, I bought dishes. It's not just for furniture, anymore. ;-)

As a life-long IKEA shopper (who is deeply annoyed that they haven't opened a store in Ireland yet) and interior architect, can I suggest that - when you do go shopping - you try and not pick the cheapest possible range...while their really really cheap stuff is very much cheap and cheerful and perfect for students, etc, once you hit the mid range it's not just inexpensive and pretty but sturdy as hell too! My mum still has all the IKEA furniture that she bought for the marital home when I grew out of my cot. And that was about 27+ years ago. Plus, classic Scandinavian design never ages!
