Pterry's tour dates for Thud! (which comes out in a bit over two weeks, in case anyone was thinking of buying me a nice "Happy September 13th" gift).

Notice that Boston is on there. Atlanta isn't.

Interestingly, judging from the description of Thud!, the aforementioned Where's My Cow is a book within Discworld.

Why is every tour date listed twice? Bizarre.

Now the ? is do I want to brave Capitola on a Sunday afternoon or Menlo Park on a Tuesday evening.

Decisions decisions ...

Hmm. Maybe my Thud board game will become more valuable now.

Considering Where's My Cow seemed to have the Librarian Seal of Approval ("OOK!"), that's not too surprising... :)

*mental image of the Librarian wandering around with a banana in one hand and a white fluffy baby seal in the other*

I definitely need more coffee ...

He hasn't written much outside of Discworld, has he? Good Omens and that other trilogy whose name is escaping me (Johnny Maxwell??) -- anything else?

Truckers/Diggers/Wings (aka the Truckers trilogy).

A couple of early attempts at "stright" SF, one of which ended up as a kind of conceptual dry-run for the discworld.

That's what I was remembering after I posted that -- one of those is a sci-fi look at what a "discworld" would be like (and that book is something of a parody of Ringworld, if I recall correctly).

Hell, there's practically NOTHING in the midwest. I would have expected Chicago at the very least.

I guess we hayseeds are jest too un-sur-fist-i-kated for Prachett.

Oh, it wasn't a condemnation of Prachett, not in the least.

It was a condemnation of Harper Collins. :)

You thought something called "Where's my cow" could be anything but a Discworld book?;)

Can't waiiiitttttt for the new book...gonna get the new Weetize Bat book (which I know is out already...just kind of got behind in bookage.:) an' Anansi Boys an' Thud! alllll in the same box. And then I'm going to carry the box, giggling, to my bedroom where I will stay for a week!

Or, until the small child comes looking for me. Hmm...wonder if the door to the big closet locks...;)

Grrr. Atlanta is always getting screwed when it comes to book tours. I've got an ARC of Good Omens I've been wanting to get Pratchett to sign forever (I got Gaiman's sig on it about 12 years ago). *sigh*

Once again, Jason's magic B&N working kicks in.

I started reading Thud but never finished it. Wasn't at all impressed. I've found that he's got a few Discworld's that just suck, and this is one of 'em.

Well, it's a Vimes & City Watch book, so you may well like it a lot better. I gotta give it another try, see if I like it better.
