Friday stuff

Just dealt with the first influx of post-Katrina students (Monday's when most of them are coming in).
Last night, we caught the premiere of Reunion, which was cheesy fun. The obvious problem with the concept (aside from, "what do they do in season 2?"), is that when you have actors playing the same characters from ages 18-38, they're going to be off in some scenes. But that's why god invented suspension of disbelief. I'll watch Alexa Davalos in just about anything, admittedly, but I like the cast in general. I am hoping that they get rid of the conceit of no one saying who the victim is. I understand letting it go for a few episodes (Jack and Bobby made the mistake of giving away too much too soon), but that's a reveal that really should happen by November Sweeps to make things work. The first episode was the exposition, and had some bad directorial ideas (like failing to make it clear that a traffic accident occurred while running a stop sign), so we'll have to see where things go next week to see if we'll Season Pass it. I still suspect that they might get more mileage out of not going year-by-year (flash to, say, 1992, thus allowing more room for mystery, instead of simply watching straightforward progression). Still, it's certainly the best Chyler Leigh show set in the '80s to date.
Didn't do much else. Caught a few Degrassi reruns, one more Cowboy Bebop (only three episodes and the movie left!), and read a bit. Made the mistake of logging on to epsn.com to see how the Mets were doing. Actually went to bed a bit early for once.
Still need more sleep. And more coffee. I figure that by the middle/end of next week, work should be at a "normal" enough schedule that I might start catching up on LJ again. I can dream. :-)
