One of the few things Paramount has done right with Trek the past few years is letting him go back and redo The Motion Picture his way for the DVD and let him fix and finish the project that he was most embarassed about having his name on...
same here..I should have gotten that for my BDay so I can finally see it the way he meant it to be, not the sllllloooooowwwwlllllllyyyyy mmmmoooooovvvvvviiinnnnggggg thing he was forced to put out...
Amazing how far Trek has fallen since that time....
It was used in the Evil Dead films, but as a tribute. The original line appeared in The Day the Earth Stood Still, still one of the classics of sci-fi.
Robert Wise was one of those directors that could handle many different genres of movie with equal brilliance (musical, drama, sci-fi...). Plus, he was one of Orson Welles favorite editors.
What strikes me is he was so diverse in his projects. When I heard about his death, my mind went immediately to the movie version of West Side Story which he directed.
