Mostly spoiler-free, so my comments are vague.
Each time I watch Arrested Development I'm impressed by not only how funny it is, but by the fact that it's one of the few sitcoms on TV that doesn't assume their audience is full of idiots. Aside from the lack of a laugh track (and nothing says "we think our viewers are idiots" like a laugh track), they do an amazing job of letting the hidden punchlines just slowly sink in. A damned solid season premiere, with some twists that definitely caught me off guard. And in case anyone missed it the sixty times they mentioned in last night, that website is Imoscar.com. :-)
Medium was also a blast. I was genuinely surprised by some of the twists they took, and happy to see that Allison continues to need help on both the spiritual and the practical front. Jake Weber remains the most interesting and realistic dad on TV, and Tina DiJoseph continues to steal some scenes quite nicely as the mayor's liaison. And the preview for next week had me giggling insanely (almost an inverse The Demolished Man).
JLU: Another damned fine start to a season. Unlike last year, there's already a sense of overarching plot, and the sense that the villains are expanding their team in response to the JLU's actions is a nice extension of the concepts from last year. While Lex was busy with the big-issue fights, Grodd was working in the trenches. Loved it, and loved the voice work, as always. Powers Boothe is an amazing Grodd, and the return of Scott Patterson as Farraday was much appreciated. And the Flash/Fire stuff was priceless (as was Hawkgirl's reaction -- you can tell why McDuffie says she's his favorite to write).
And then we had the second episode, introducing the Carter Hall Hawkman into the JLU, and managing to somehow encompass a ton of actual DCU continuity (not to mention references to Gardner Fox and Jo Kubert, his creators). And they had Shadow Thief (uncredited, for some reason)! And there was GL: "It's a really good bubble." Color me amused and happy.
Harvey Birdman: The shows developing continuity! I loved the JLU references (although they blew a chance to bring in Black Lightning), and the scene with Boo-Boo was a nice touch. And whenever I believe that the show won't got there, they manage to go there and then some. Loved it.
