TV Stuff: Gilmore, House
Sep. 21st, 2005 09:00 amGilmore Girls: Well, the top-notch, as-good-as-his-wife Daniel Palladino from last year has clearly reverted to the traditional one. Which isn't terrible -- there were still some wonderful moments -- but too many sequences (most of them involving the dog and TJ) just fell flat, and there was the usual continuity stupidity (Rory's car is impounded, which means she made record time on her forty-mile walk to Luke's). Still a good episode, but not nearly as good as the opener. And, um, is there a milk carton with Lane's picture on it?
House: Hell, yeah! Another damned fine episode, with some brilliant twists. I'd heard that they'd originally wanted Dakota Fanning for the role of the little girl, but the girl they cast was just perfect. My only mild complaint was that House's iPod seemed was apparently rewired for tv, so that hitting one button managed to do seven different things. And next week's episode looks to give us a nice Cuddy plotline.
Tonight, I'll watch Lost, as Veronica Mars doesn't premiere until next week. After that, I'll be relying on the kindness of strangers (strangers with torrents and/or burners) to keep up with what's happening on the island.

Date: 2005-09-21 01:14 pm (UTC)ROFLMFAO. You took the words right out of my mouth. It really was a brilliant ep. I'm not entirely convinced they've dropped House/Cameron as he still completely plays favorites, but it's working how they're handling it.
House's iPod. ROFL. FF, FF, FF...Rewind...?

Date: 2005-09-21 01:23 pm (UTC)oh yes, a big FU to the Emmy idiots for passing over Laurie and McShane and blankly punching in Spader for a show that wasnt even on half the year!

Date: 2005-09-21 01:31 pm (UTC)ABC clearly has a much better handle on things.

Date: 2005-09-21 01:43 pm (UTC)I'm happy about the new season of Lost starting.
And don't forget to Tivo the hour before Lost either; there's going to be a one-off about the Lost phenomenon. Most likely it'll be a puff piece, but I'm sure there will be a nugget or two of interest.
And did I mention Lost premieres tonight?

Date: 2005-09-21 01:52 pm (UTC)ABC comes in a little blurry for me over-the-air. Sometimes better, sometimes worse.

Date: 2005-09-21 02:06 pm (UTC)I'll be taping the show every week, because I like to watch each episode twice to pore over all the details and clues. I'll gladly share the tape with y'all.
Are you watching at home tonight?
Re: A paper company in Slough.
Date: 2005-09-21 02:29 pm (UTC)And yes, we're watching tonight, although you should know that Elayna's bedtime is 8:30, so we won't be getting started right away.
A box company in Tustin.

Date: 2005-09-21 04:08 pm (UTC)And, will any of House's patients EVER die? It's sort of pointless if you always know the ending.

Date: 2005-09-21 04:10 pm (UTC)But yeah, the lack of dying is something I've bitched about before. Scrubs gets it, so why doesn't House?

Date: 2005-09-21 05:46 pm (UTC)And in the episode with sleeping sickness, the chick didn't die, but her husband certainly left her - so I don't think it's quite 'happy ending-ville' ..

Date: 2005-09-21 06:24 pm (UTC)It's not that there haven't been downer endings, but I'd compare this to the "one out of every three patients dies" episode of Scrubs, for example, and I see a doctor who performs too many miracles.
That said, I missed the rabies one.

Damn that was a fine episode.
